ABOUT THE SCHEME:

Under Amrutha Swabhimaani Kurigaahi Yojane 20+1 sheep/goat units will be provided to 20 thousand economically backward members of the sheep and wool producers cooperative societies at a unit cost of Rs.1,75,000.00/

50% of the unit cost will be provided by the National Cooperative Development Corporation, Department of Cooperation, Government of India (NCDC), 25% grant from State Government of Karnataka and 25% contribution from the beneficiary.

OBJECTIVES OF THE SCHEME:

1. Economic development of shepherds through sheep/goat rearing.
2. Development of sheep and goats in the state.
3. Increasing production of sheep/goat meat.

PROJECT AMOUNT:

20+1 Sheep / Goat units are being provided to 20,000 eligible shepherd members in Sheep and Wool Producers Co-operative Societies affiliated with KSWDCL, at a total project cost of Rs.350.00 crores as follows.

ELIGIBLE BENEFICIARIES:

1. The scheme is applicable only for eligible shepherd members of Sheep and Wool Producers Co-operative Societies registered as shareholders with the Maha Mandals of Karnataka Co-operative Sheep and Goat Farmers Societies.
2. The Society must be registered with the Co-operative Department of the Government of Karnataka in accordance with the Co-operative Societies Act, 1959 and the Society shall hold its meetings regularly and the Annual General Meeting (AGM) as per the Election Bylaws and Act.
3. The Society’s audit reporting and filing of the recent past three years should be completed as well as certification regarding the society being actively functioning from the Cooperative Department must be submitted.

*Condition: For 20+1 sheep/goat units, an insurance scheme is implemented by United Insurance Company, at an annual premium amount of Rs.6420, in addition to the above fixed amount of Rs.5500, an insurance premium amount of Rs.920 is borne by the beneficiaries.
